1964 B450 working hard pulling a 12m 8500kg set of rolls. 55hp doing what would normally use 120hp. Admittedly a little slower. Have a video but can’t figure out how to upload that.
Upload the video to Youtube and then paste the link on here, it will automatically embed then.

Tidying out one of the old stone sheds and dragged this old buckrake out. Sticker on it looks like it came from a company at Maybole. Anybody know who made it and anybody that might be interested?

I did wonder myself how they did it, that was all well, well before my time
I was lucky enough to be too young when my dad did it. Horrible dusty job standing on the sledge stacking them. Could normally manage 2 diamonds (20 bales) on one of those ruck lifters as we called them. Us kids used to climb on top of the diamonds and hitch lifts around the field, although sometimes if the bales were a bit solid we had to perch on the bonnet to keep the front wheels down.

Health and Safety would have had a field day.

Aye, my dad talks about days on the bale sledge, alright when the wind was blowing towards you, less so behind you. Brought it up at lunch, turns out it was made by Montgomerie Engineering.

Not too bad on hay , a pure barsteward on straw if the combine was tracking the ground a bit then the runners dropped into a rut and pulled the bales off . Did 540 bales in 3 quarters of an hr once wasn't sorry to see the baler needing to stop for twine.

Doesn’t the harvester self steer anyway?
Yes. The harvester does have a row feeler that works very well keeping the opelwheels on the row.
But driving the tractor on the row for 8 - 10 hrs day tor 10 days gets tiring. Even a simple low end steering assist system like this makes it easy as long as it is on RTK.

This one fall we had to start up lifting a field of beets with 10 cm snow. Had been raining a lot and it was just too wet. We had to wait for soil to freeze a little bit to carry the machinery and to get it done. With RTK steering it was an easy chore.
