And the big yellow beast of a drill - I think it still counts as classic in the modern variation of the them and being over 20 years old

The FDI Sambrin and 7740 are two machines that punch massivly above their weight and have served us so well over the time we have owned then, which for the loader is 1988 and the 7740 1996. Still the 4000 (1976) and Dexta (19??) are the longest serving units on the farm

They're not really classics yet, but they're certainly not shiny......in any case, it's a good opportunity to ressurect the thread.

Just come in from a bit of mid summer baling, they're talking rain tomorrow.

I worked for a farmer who only had same's, they where all horrible in their own way so it kind of left a sour taste to the brand.
But hey. That is a nice row of machines!

I think the Italians call it "character".

It's funny, the two 130's are identical (roughly), a year apart, similar hours (give or take) and yet they're completely different. The one on the baler is crisp, smooth, quiet & powerful. All round, it's just a good tractor, I've tried other brands and just haven't found anything else that I like enough to warrant changing it.

What I really like about it though, is that it still has its original Kenwood radio with a functioning cassette player. There's nothing like tractoring on a summers evening, the sunroof cracked open just so and cranking up my favourite Big O and Boney M tapes.

On the other hand, the one on the mower is......well, I think it was born on a Friday, after knock off time, after a few Peronis. It's sloppy, soggy, noisy & rattly. And the radio doesn't work.

Like I said.....character (y)

What's with the scorch marks on the back wheels? New mountings welded on? Or is it paint/rust converter.

Neither. That side has had a slight weep from the drive shaft seal for a long time. And a build up of oil and dirt over the years has left a heavy oily deposit that I've never tried to hard to remove. When I tried to sponge it off a couple of days ago with normal shampoo all it did was make my sponge oily. Needs a proper degreaser but also provides a good layer of protection!
