Had high hopes for the Hilux but just couldn't take to it, terrible ride, had hoped it might redeem itself towing but it was even worse doing that, gearbox couldn't make its mind up which gear it wanted to be in,life's too short, hope the discovery is as good as my last one.
My Mrs sold our discovery5 for a Volvo....don't ask😭
Miss it Everytime I drive up our very long and bumpy farm track.

This was going to go into the demo thread, but ended up buying it on the spot. After our old Teagle it was a remarkable advance, and as a low-hour second hand machine used as a demonstrator a reasonable buy. It could also have gone onto the salesman thread, as an example of when things go well. Thanks @Gav

Hope the door does not come open on the tractor.

Be a shame to get it dirty.

I'd never hire that thing out!

Don't share my toys.
I’ll be a bit careful where it goes , but built like a brick house with 7 year warranty on gearboxes, just a few days a year to help justify , although I do think there will be a good demand as there’s a big increase in fallow etc needing topping twice a year . Time will tell , I’ll push to price the whole job and do it on contract if possible.
We hired one earlier in the year and was very impressed .

Watch that the gearbox bolts don’t rattle loose. Sure that’s what happened to 1 here that gets hired out a lot

If you hire out, make it crystal clear to them
that if they damage the PTO guard it’s their responsibility as they are eye wateringly expensive.

Used to hire one most years for a few day, till the chap stopped doing it, great machines.

On more than one occasion when I collected the machine the PTO shaft was knackered, badly vibrating. Wide angle pto, problem being it goes on hire for weeks at a time, not always returning to base so may not be greased for hundreds of hours.

Wish you were local to here!

Thanks chaps , I’ll make sure everything is insured on back of tractor before leaving , I don’t envisage it going out that much but I’ll get to it after a few days if it’s out for weeks .
I suppose with phone cameras these days a walk round with the chap before it leaves and photos of issues , would cover me for a return the same policy?
We really look after kit even if hired , I suppose not everyone is the same ?
might be a bad move ?

We got a spearhead 460 in 2001 it was hired out / wrecked a LOT for the first 10/12 years ish when it got a bit older it was costing more to put right than the hire was covering so was just kept for our own use and it soldiered on till 2022 and has been replaced by a McConnell that's just the new version of what we had and it will not be hired out EVER .

PTO shaft would be the least of my worries, look at those gearboxes... makes me cringe just thinking how fast folk are gonna go and what they'll try to put through it... :censored:
Gearboxes will be spot on . Our old 1 never even had an oil leak and I took some punishment. It often came back with a broken blade or 2 and big slices in the deck where the blades had been bent up hitting rocks and doing a can opener job on itself!!!

Pto shaft covers are a nightmare only way to nearly make sure they weren't damaged was to hook it on for them and get the arms out the way . It's amazing how many people don't care about things

View attachment 1149902 Got this ready for the new season , with the SFI and mid tier areas increasing around us.
So will be looking for work , alternatively it’s will be available to hire locally ( Beds/northants ) on a daily rate .
Nice machine (y)
No real comment on the hire thing other than there's a good chance it will get trashed.
Zooming out further, folks getting paid to grow/leave ground and just mulch anything that grows.
Worlds gone mad.
