How long are the Gs4 leys lasting for others doing it, it says may need reseeding after 3 years are they really only lasting this long? Is it just the flowers not lasting the rest would usually last more than 3 years. How much yeild are you loosing by not using any N over a non gs4 mix with N added
You be more or less left with grass by year 4 , they don't have White clover in that makes them worse

Only option them is to oveseed herbs and clover or start again , unless you let it go Rough and self seed itself

having grazed once, our steep bank, is showing the extent of how plantain can spread, rapidly, seeding now, l cannot see any possibility of it not lasting, it is taking over in big patches, problem, not really, grass is unreliable in that bank, cows like it, = grazing when very dry.

Put some rough trials in of various clovers/legumes last year, Trefoil and Aslike, are the only two that grew back this spring, and very good growth. The docks were the other major plant, patch only 1/3 acre, so sprayed the lot off. Elsewhere, crimson clover, sown in patches last year, is now flowering, didn't think it would over winter.

Chicory in its 3rd year, is still coming well, in some places, not others.

Herbal leys require different management to ryegrass. If you're willing to look after them it's a no brainer, if you're just going to treat them like straight ryegrass and then complain in 12 months when there's only ryegrass left don't bother!

Gs4 pays £150/acre and you have to do very little to achieve that, if you're going to plant herbal leys it makes sense to apply for gs4.

The biggest things with herbal leys is to give them an adequate rest period between grazings and not to overgraze them.
Generally they will last 3-4 years with correct care. If you want anymore info feel free to ask.

Picking up an old thread here,
Planning on growing GS4 as a grazable break crop on arable land;;
& sfi herbal ley ,as a reseed on grass land, to cut and graze. Just a bit concerned about having too much material to sow into , when it's time to reseed again, at the end of each ley.
Any body got any suggestions, cheers.

Wasn't actually sure if you could on gs4,, .
In our case could do with cashing it if it has a value.
I suppose it would need to be at least £20/ bale to make it worth wrapping.
