Neat idea, probably a bit awkward for us as we're usually making smallish paddocks of an acre or two, generally wedge shaped for a radial set up.
Method 1 might be a bit demoralising if you have to do a 20 to 50 acre field like the store lamb people do.
Very few fields here take more than 600 metres to go around, you can soon run out of posts so I now go 12-15 metre where I can

I’d like too think I’m pretty qualified too give my opinion on this 😅

the most efficient way is option 4 but the most cost effective way is too drive at 15-20mph throwing a stake off every 4 seconds .. put corner stakes up as you go… then at the end walk around clipping posts on and tensioning at corners… I can put 1200metres up on my own in about an hour too hour and half.. 2 people would probably do that in 45mins too an hour..

I tried unwinding from the front and staking as I go with a bit of a bodge up rig, but I found half the time when I set off driving wires would pop out the stakes and I’d spend as long walking back clipping them back in again

I know a lot choose to walk around multiple times i just can’t see how walking around a field again is any good. Would take me ages to do it like that as opposed to how I do it now. Can lay out a 12 acre field in about 20 mins if it got decent straight hedges. Longer if you’ve 20 corner posts.

If you walk back every corner post you’ll walk the outer perimeter of the field twice, once walking back and then again walking back too the quad… so walking round at the end is the most efficient because you only walk the perimeter once… keeps me fit if nothing else 🤣

It's interesting that without some modification that the system requires a lot of walking. It's certainly not made clear on the sales adverts.
Excellent tool for winding in but poor for unreeling.
I will certainly try making a front mount unreeler. Thanks for all the input👍

Option 4 if one of the kids is available. Option 3, riding "side saddle" if not.
You know when you’re getting old, when your son tells you get on the bike !
Number 4 is the answer but get yourself on the quad, use proper corner posts and I always give the wire half a dozen turns around the insulators so if the wire breaks its usually only a section of the fence to mend and those half a dozen turns usually give you enough slack to tie a knot
I get myself on the quad & let junior do the work whilst passing him stakes. We’ve never needed to wrap wire around corner posts though.
We’re usually fencing 10-30 acre blocks for 200-400 sheep.

Nothing. Run the wires through the insulators then tension the whole 600m run at the reel post, as the system is designed.

Rapping at corners is an unnecessary fück on that makes life more difficult for the person picking up.

That would require you to train the sheep to electric properly and maintain it properly, so that they respect the fence and don’t break out…🤐

I don’t wrap wire around insulators, or use more than two strands btw. I’ve better things to do than get stock back in.

What height is your wire Neil ?

We use 3 strands in 3, 5 & 7

Usually 2 person job fencing here. One on bike putting out wire and dropping posts as you go. Wire wrapped round corner posts as it’s put out. Other person on foot putting posts in. The benefits of wrapping the corner posts outweighs the disadvantages.
If I am on my own then wire put out same way and walk round whole field/break putting posts in afterwards. Takes longer trying to put posts in as you go if on your own.
Principles of lifting the wire are the same but in reverse.
Exception to the rule is lifting a dividing fence on turnips when if on my own then will pull posts out as I reel wire in due to a heap of hoggs desperate to access next break.
p.s. NEVER EVER lift wire when it’s got a layer of frost/ice glued to it as you’ll wish youd never been born by the end.!!
