If it's there and free, I think you might as well take it?
Why wouldn't you, the money could be used for something else.

Had a chap in today, got a bit of land passed for building (none farmer) the builders have put the deal on hold as they dont think they can sell the planned houses for the forseeableagree - its a LOT worse out there than is being reported yet - there is a recession in full swing I reckon, house prices have dropped, car prices have dropped (most peoples 2nd biggest asset or liability, builders short of work and interest rates are stopping people buying anything that requires finance
deflation here we come !
selling more than you buyHow do you end up with over 100k surplus in your bank account to buy a tractor outright!?
Could be wrong but I don’t think they exist anymore. I think Tony clones who was mr Quivogne uk has retired and Cheffins had the clearance sale a couple of years ago.Well some farm machinery manufacturers seemingly do NOT want sales. emailed Quivogne uk twice for them to tell me whom my local dealers are of their products, Not a peep out of them.
Agreed but lets pray our governments in the West start to see sense & really help Ukraine. When ukraine folds, the russians wont stop there, so watch out
Is it better borrow money at the current interest rates and use the capital to finanace other things or buy out right?Probably by not spending it until you have earn’t it. That alone saves you probably near £15k, possibly more, over a fairly short term In interest charges which helps to save for the next capital cost.
Your only really going to have more cash the year you give up, fertiliser, chemicals, contracting fees, diesel, seed are all bought before you harvest crop to pay for It.selling more than you buy
Every business is different. Different structure, ambitions, abilities and debt to equity ratios, scale and opportunities. Is it better borrow money at the current interest rates and use the capital to finanace other things or buy out right?
Its different in Yorkshire.Your only really going to have more cash the year you give up, fertiliser, chemicals, contracting fees, diesel, seed are all bought before you harvest crop to pay for It.
Some farmers do use merchants as a bank and buy all inputs from them, give them crop back at harvest and get paid the difference.
each to their own, the best thing in life though is when you come to the realisation you are in complete control of your own thoughts and dont need "things" to improve your moodI used to buy old cars - its nice to be able to afford much newer one these days though
When we are all old and dribbling in an old folks homes as long as we feel we made the most of the things we wanted to thats all that matters really and different things ( assets , lifestyle and experiences) are important to different people
travel and holidays / travel are a complete waste of £ some would say ? ........ to others they are far more important
for me personally - I realised a long time ago that my life wasn't going to be all about looking after cows or spending money i made on doing so better !
Wasn't long ago there was big wait to get oneRuck of low mileage trucks in brightwells timed auction tomorrow

Aren't The Bank Of England "supposed" to be impartial to the government of the day with regards interest rate settingDo you think the gov have gone too hard too soon with the interest rates? Maybe even didn’t put gentle pressure on the brakes early enough?
Not always. If it's there and free, I think you might as well take it?

Just done the same but Swedish 2yr old with 15000 miles it was a lease deal that ended earlyCurrently looking to treat myself to a nice high end German manufactured car , as I have come to realise there’s more to life than work. I was quite surprised by how many cars are for sale with very low mileage but high owners at only 1 or 2 years old .Is this a case of tick the box to say they’ve had one then get something else or realise after a year they can’t actually afford it ?
So true, i have been known to do the odd emergency car repair for a friend of a friend, when it came to pay, i told them its free, but when you have the opportunity to help someone else pass it on, it makes their day. Another example, tow the transit out of a boggy hole after skidding off the road, young lad new to job says he will ask the boss to send a payment... i told him it never happened, just go.each to their own, the best thing in life though is when you come to the realisation you are in complete control of your own thoughts and dont need "things" to improve your mood
building a future for my kids is more rewarding to me than new toys, mabye they wont appreciate it but it has been scientifically proven that doing something good for someone else actually makes you feel better than anything you can do for yourself,
so theyre actually doing me the favour, makes sense as to why the previous generations grafted away happily instead of selling up and blowing the money, even though it was backbreaking work they enjoyed it
Out of all the ones currently for sale I still cannot find one that I’ve fell in love with yet .!! And hanging off in the hope of a price drop .!!Just done the same but Swedish 2yr old with 15000 miles it was a lease deal that ended early
Agree with this statementTry asking for discount "for cash" (ie no finance!) on a straight deal (no px) and in my limited experience they won`t bite so....
With regard to a trade-in most folk have their glasses on and weigh the job up first...... The lack of competition thanks to the non overlap of dealers is not helping the situation though
I`m certain that`s starting to make folk think VERY hard before committing to any big expense at present.. Plus the fallout from covid and the Ukraine job has no doubt made folk a bit cautious ( the high fert. prices and current poor grain prices are in many minds no doubt).
Unfortunately our half-cock political leaders have never grasped the fact that farming subsidies are in fact a subsidy for a whole host of rural businesses - farmers are good spenders, if they`ve got the cash they invest for the future!
Another spin-off that they fail to grasp is that subsidies support domestic agriculture which helps support UK produced high quality food , rather than pulling the rug out from UK farmers and letting Mr Supermarket (aka as Mr Rip-off) just import poorer quality stuff from abroad.
I fear some big dealer-ships will find things a lot harder in future...
