sunday thru wednesday

buggered meself saturday....but still worked sunday  ..... monday morning was manic.....wind had caught a door on our oldest barn....nasty split but was 'stitch in time territory' thankfully......the barn is very old....my grandfather bought it and moved it from langham airfield after the war......one of my earliest memories is seeing it full...row upon row of corn sacks:love:... it's still very useful:love:...fert arrived mid repair.....got pen in lambing shed ready and last of the ewes brought in.... two lots....main 'horde' then admiral and K went back for stragglers:)

SO....when we brought the ewe lambs off tack we had a little trouble catching the last few....in the end i took a couple of old culls over and used them as 'judas goats'.....remember?.....anyhoo i'd not got the culls back out......just before lunch i found 'exhibit A'

i'm mystified how she found a ram in September cos all three where were they shoulda been :scratchhead: .......MEANWHILE...on sunday boy had stripped down their washing machine ....changed the bearings but had broken his 10mm socket reassembling (cheap tesco effort).....i had been detailed to drop another round en route to my 'weekly wit mechanic'......then i got a text and email from my leccy supplier telling me i'd cancelled our DD...i must phone to reinstate and they were going to charge £39 for the priviledge ......i knew i'd cancelled the DD of course and had already emailed them telling them why:rolleyes: ......i ran late and by the time i arrived at the 'mechanic's i was harassed/tired and fed up:rolleyes:

tuesday

still tired/fed up i 'crawled' thru the morning..... littered down all the sheep pens then set to work crunching the leccy bills.....i know i made the original mistake but i've been trying to fix it since september 23 ffs.....i reckon i've overpaid by about £600 but they'll no doubt ignore my submissions and ask for £4k (which is what it looks like with my original faux pas)....that is why i cancelled our DD.....i also crunched my tenants electric bill...it looked like she had substantial arrears AND i had to break news of a hefty rent increase (not been raised in 10 years :bag: ).....THEN i suddenly realised i'd not done VAT and deadline looming😭

lunch.....headache:rolleyes:...coupla paracetemol....nap.....PSM got working....things started to turn(y).....PSM realised vat return not due til enda month....worked out tenants arrears not as bad ....and i'm 'playing' it just about right with our dozy leccy supplier(y)

back at the farm....check lamb has sucked....meet tenant with 'bad news' but she's fine....can afford the increase so that's a relief:)

wednesday

k had day off cos her daughters 18th b'day:)......admiral and i do the chores....she drives mule around whilst i feed...gives her somat to do:)......resta morning i'm finally back on the 'alcove' which is taking longer than first planned:rolleyes:......decent progress though.....had a long lunch and biita rest/calm down in afternoon:)

pre fifth birthday entry

poor old diary is having a bit of a neglected time as it approaches it's 6th year....it's had lean times before....it must end one day....i sometimes wonder how it'll end.....you never think about the 'end' when you start

the weekend was a bit 'rough'....both mental and physical.....friday afternoon we had 'biblical' rain....our front yard flooded but worse the road from which our lane adjoins flooded to an extent i'd never seen.....the trouble is it has a bridge to a stream.....feeding it is several hundred acres from south and east as well as road water from a village 3 miles away.....decades of improving drainage left this 'bottle neck' unable to cope ....one of my neighbours had a flood further back on the road by his farm which had never happened before......overnight it cleared thankfully but our yard flooded again sunday morning....a blocked overflow pipe my father had installed from a ditch to a pond....i'd modified the system few years back with another pipe from pond to secondary ditch....it worked well but dad had only used a 4'' pipe

i missed church sunday morning...i actually got there 12 noon ....slumping down i got some tea and sympathy....the prior four hours i'd fettled strawbs horse hay....tended admiral....fed sheep.....sorted technical glitch in holiday barn heating and had tonka out doing some emergency drainage.....all done and yard clear of water but knackered and wondering wtf am i doing really?

the house restoration is both 'blessing and curse'....a 'distraction and worthwhile project'.....that i enjoy on the one hand.....but draining physically/mentally on the other......keep seeing jobs around yard /machinery undone which doesn't help morale....6 weeks til lambing:rolleyes:

after making good strides mentally with mechanic i've slipped back slightly....she says i need R&R but it's easier said then done...i've really forgotten how to switch off from life's 'maelstrom'

on a lighter note ....boy's partner has researched our family tree thinking about names for baby discovering our 'family motto' by accident i 'shared' it with the mechanic saying...'this is what you're up against'😁😁

Try and remember you seem to be having more ups than downs these days. Tomorrow is a new day and has every opportunity of being better than today. Spring is on the way, the storks arrived here last week so I reckon we’ve already got spring and it’s working its way north! Only about 600 miles to go 😂

now watching 'tremors ...cold day in hell'...I'm a big fan of tremors films🥰....and trying to avoid city v hornets🙄....both combine comedy/horror but the latter slightly more tragic😁

coo...y'know you could play a young Bert Gummer....in....'TREMORS....BRECKLAND ORIGINS'....premise...arceologists excavating an old neandertal flint quarry from days of 'pre yore' accidently open a chamber...turns out early man encountered but managed to trap grabloids but as fresh warm air enters the last eggs laid by the trapped creatures hatch😬

scene one...warm early October day ...robbie's opening up a beet headland...the TIM tripping up the rows...the camera pans back as into view the worm trail of the grabloid appears...homing in on the opell wheel vibration...a slightly obese beet haulier watching from his lorry drops a biscuit (that was enroute to his lips).....the grabloid catches and wrecks the harvester...robbie narrowly escapes and survives by disguising himself as a fox using a mask he had in his toolbox.....😳😳....the film goes on...eventually you kill it by either...impaling it with a flat 8 grab...or...getting it to eat a tonne of dried peas and igniting the resultant flatulance🤔

Tremors is one of my favourite films 😍

"Can you fly you sucker, can you fly!"

I could quote lots from the film 😊

Probably just as well I've not show you our rest room 🙈😄

Mesolithic not neanderthal man about here 😉 (didn't you listen to what you were told in your interrogation on the lane??)
