Protest cancelled due to lack of interest

Two weeks ago I asked for volunteers to help organise a farmers protest. To make the risk-reward of farming worthwhile.
JUST ONE FARMER STEPPED FORWARD!
In the face of this level of apathy I give up on trying to get (English) farmers to do anything.
Indeed, the vast majority of comments on these threads have been negative, something that is very discouraging for someone who wants to achieve!

My hope is that TFF posters are not typical English farmers, and that someone else can marshall an effective campaign against the unfair treatment of farmers in the food sector.

I'm now negotiating with a solar farm developer to cover the whole of my farm with something that gives a decent, secure return!

To have worthwhile protests we need specific actionable demands. If you are going to lead protests you need to outline what our demands are, you haven’t done so that I has seen.

Protesting for protest sake is counter productive. Look at Just Stop Oil, their demands are too big, too unrealistic and the public despises them.

you've 'answered your own question' I think....for me i'd rather concentrate on 'winning the peace"...ie produce as little food as possible and find other ways to utilise my little 'bit"

I mean....our 'union' is against us...the government is he'll bent on importing as much as possible...the supermarkets want to grind us to dust

I'm of the opinion "give them enough rope'

Very good programme on World Service this morning on the European protests. It was pointed out that the reversal in the pesticide ban was already in the pipeline, had been agreed before Christmas, has been dressed up as having been achieved by the protests to make everyone feel they had achieved something. That's the reality of tractor rally protests, everyone lets off steam but the real change comes about through education of the policy makers behind closed doors.

EU farmers know that they have considerable support from the public, we don’t. The supermarket culture here is far stronger than in Europe and has completely changed the consumers attitude to food.
There is an enormous amount wrong with the state of agriculture in the UK, just as there is across Europe, but we need to find a different way to illustrate this than blockading roads.

Pal, you were seen for what you represent from your first post. If there is protesting to be done it will be behind our own banner - not someone else's 👍

Unfortunately I don’t think anyone really trusted your intention, to lead a large group of individuals you need to to show leadership, you appeared to just run from thread to threads screaming panic panic panic... 🤷🏼‍♂️

You do what’s right for your Buisness, if you see a better return in solar panels then carry on, no point in farming just because you have a farm.
as for having a pop at everyone for not joining you, they obviously all feel that the protest you suggested was little more than a waste of time, due to having no clear actionable demands.
Be sure to let us know how the solar panels go, we may all join you…

Green washing is what we SHOULD be protesting about,
making our industry the scapegoat for climate change ( whether real or imaginary).

every sector whether profitable or loss making at the moment should be able to unite under one objective. WE ARE NOT TO BLAME FOR CLIMATE CHANGE

Directly protesting against imports in themselves is a bit 'rich' when we export produce. Supermarkets importing and undercutting us with goods produced to illegal standards in the UK and an Higher carbon footprint is what is wrong. To top it off they are then gonna nick our carbon credits, to put against there own emissions......if it wasn't so serious it'd be funny.......

Says it all , no metal for a fight anyway just trying to stir the pot and wander off smiling .
Didn't he say he'd been approached by a BFU member to come on here and stir things up a bit, or am I misremembering?
"protest and see what they offer to shut you up"
Not the greatest plan, can't be that bothered either if he gave up that quick, but then he has a plan B in a solar farm, so hardly desperate.
