So what is everyone's theory on what is causing these record hogget prices? I've heard a theory that it is the Houthi rebels disrupting shipping meaning the NZ product is going to take too long to get to the UK ahead of Easter & EID so the retailers are panicking and stocking up on UK produce?
Or is it simply supply and demand from reduced UK flock and lack of hoggets coming to the market in a wet winter?
Both?

There ain’t none left around us

One farm down the road has been known to still have 1000 homebred lambs around them still. They have not one left got them inside pre Xmas and got them away with the wet and the trade at the time. Be similar carry on all over

I have sold cattle cheap before give luck money amd wish them well, if they make a few quid they will want them again and maybe push a little harder or push someone else on is my out look on it …
Sold a few hoggets last week to a regular chap, they would have made more in market but if we had done that would he want them next year if the market price is down, can't have it all ways

Skintagain beat me to it, some more prices in the main report. Truely wonderful, never thought I would see price like these.

@Lazy Eric @e3120 put those prices in your pipes and smoke them.

The top price calf was born on my straw & I supply the son of the market topper for Hoggs & cull ewes.

Top stockmen need good fodder & bedding.
