Setting up autosteer on another tractor, I’ve the wee motor and plastic cogs all on, but fearful of little fingers.
I have came across a John Deere ATU that’s for sensible money, is it easy to convert to AOG I seen a post by @andyinv on the other forum but you didn’t seem to get it all going?
Will upgrade to Baraki in a while but this is about 1/3 price of a valve.
Robert
Baraki has suggested he could make a simpler (and cheaper) valve that, Tees into the steering line, so only suitable for non-reactive orbitals (which is most anyhow).

I had Ntrip issue after rolling every other pass across a field and had just started infilling back. I disabled ntrip in agio to stop it popping up errors and carried on with any correction signals to the f9p. I could barely see my marks most of the time so didn't want to steer manually the whole time. I probably nudged the line every fourth time across the field.

I fert spreading grass fields in one go then it might be okay uncorrected, but I would still think the base station would be worth it, given the hardware is so cheap compared to any subscriptions.

About 15-20cm, perfectly ok for fert spreading or cultivating.

fields still too wet to get anywhere near them with fertilizer, so not had a proper trial yet.

however have been trying out my agopengps on the drive to work, in the car.

between morning and evening 8-9hrs signal can drift up to 1m I am finding, as i find the tracks onscreen overlapping. Driving around a loop on quite roads where i am retracing my path every 15mins there doesn't seem to be as much drift.

I am using the updated firmware on the f9p aerial and it all works v well.

Does the magnitude of GPS drift increase over time with gps signals ? was googling but couldn't find a solid answer.

FYI - the aerial will stick to the roof of the car at 100km/h no issues.

No luck with the atu200, I'd go for keya as it's smaller. Tho I've another lot got in contact with me, smaller motor, that they want to offer me to try. Might see how that goes

The only reason rtk will drift that amount is if the signal ages out (lost connection, intermittent connection etc) or the distance to the station is too great. How far is it ?

Yes on GPS Single that's normal.

Come back a few hours later or the next day and your line could of moved 1.2m.

When you've got the tractor sorted a base station is not much extra expense or effort and RTK makes such a difference, map field boundaries, fixed tramlines etc.

That would be a good job. His is still the best and very reasonably for what it is so might just content myself this year and get it for next winters project.

how much would the typical drift be in 15mins or 30mins, on GPS single

base station will be 60km away

If the base station is 60km, one rule of thumb often quoted is "2ppm" or "2 points per million". A million centimetres is 10km, so at 10km, you can expect up to 2cm accuracy. So, roughly, 12cm for 60km then.

But a lot depends on atmospheric conditions and all sorts.

When you get a base station set up, you can plot where it thinks it's current position is over time on a graph in U-center. It never really stops changing, slowly changing the whole time and gradually wonders around the graph like a very drunk slug. It's usually within 1m of the average position, but can get up to around 2m away on occasions. I recall I left mine logging for 3 days once while surveying in the antenna and it was mostly within 75cm. Sometimes the drunk slug seemed to stagger quicker than normal, sometimes it seemed to have collapsed in a ditch, hardly twitching.

Hello!
New to this forum but a member on Agopengps to. I have been reading a lot of pages and info so now I have some things I wondering.
I have John deere 7820 I wanna put autosteer on. Got a bit upset when JD want 100K Swedish kr for just the steering valve!! (7500£)
So now I ended up here.
Here the thing. I have an old Outback S3 (Claas GPS Pilot S3) system laying in the shop with steering valve and WAS and Nav controller. But the old reciver is broken.
Is there any way to get that to work with AOG?
I also have an Teltonika RUT955 for RTK.

Greatfull for answers and help!!

I need to put some more info. Its an Claas GPS Pilot S3 system. I think its Hemisphere that made those system.
Its been mounted on a Fendt 939 wich I mounted an Fendt original system back on to.

Would be great if I could get the things I have to work with AOG.

So the steering valve and WAS you can use with AgOpenGPS.
The S3 screen and Nav controller you are best to sell in eBay/Facebook, the proceeds should easily pay for an AgOpenGPS PCB and tablet.

That was my thougts to but after reading all 35 pages in this tread I realise that the knowledge in this group is huge so I better ask before.
Thank for answer.

Next thing then.. If I go for an AOG system, Can you make and ship an PCB and wiring and ship to Sweden?
You can send me an PM.

I don't ship to EU, but will send you a PM with who will make you one.

Put a picture up of your steering valve, we can see what connections it has. Fendt have static Load sensing on their steering orbital, most other brands have dynamic. It may be being retro fitted to the Fendt it was plumbed into the Power beyond anyway.

was it not accurate enough in Single Mode for fert spreading that you needed the RTK correction data, or did you just go for best practice.
GPS single would be fine for fert spinning, I was just seeing how good of a connection I could get without having to build my own base station - luckily only one 15 miles away which seems good enough
