How’s lambing going? You don’t have to answer that till nearer the end if you don’t want to
It’s ok, to many triplets really is making a far bit of work and lamb losses are a bit higher than I would like (watery mouth and deformed wired lambs), but doesn’t really matter as got plenty of spares. The success seems to be yearling ewes that have been separated for the first time this year, there lambs a very big and have loads of milk, usually struggle on both counts with them.

What are you using for watery mouth?

Got 2000 doses of that, haven’t used any, just metacam and amoxicillin, don’t save many though.

It's not unusual for me to only see 3-4 cases of watery mouth each year, but having loads this year for some reason.
Even in lambs that have been tuned with plenty of (ewe's) colostrum and sucking well. Knocking them at a couple of days old, accompanied with a darker scour than you usually get with E.Coli.

Must be something different going through them, but most are responding to 1ml of Betamox im+ 1ml down the throat.

I've had a pallet of pine shavings to try bedding individual pens this year, which is supposed to really help with watery mouth. At over £8 a bale and more lambs getting WM, they're back on straw bedding now.

I hope the outside Lambers don't get the same when they start, or that will make some work.

It’s been a mild wet winter so ideal for “bugs” to develop. No hard frosts for any period of time. We’ve had some joint ill and one of the sufferers was the first lamb born in the shed which had no sheep in it before, so no build up of infection

I’m getting the odd case of joint ill now in lambs around 14 days old but seem to be responding to betamox but it’s just a time consuming job catching them.

Nithersdale said he had something better for joint ill I will remember it in time
