Bet some of these big estates that have told their tennants to feck off are delighted
Quite, everyone whinging its happening and that we need food security... now all up in arms because food security has been mentioned and they can't turn more than 1/4 of their farm into an iron age scene. I personally think defra have done the right thing in this instance, they should add unharvested cereals to it...

Its the distrust its caused, its the moving of the goalposts, its the fact that poster after poster on here told defras minons this is exactly what would happen and were dismissed. The susspicion the only reason theyve now done this is because of pressure from the supermarkets. Sticks right in the craw.

It doesn't take an educated person to realise that the SFI pot was never big enough. Can't say I've ever trusted them, certainly not to make a business plan around. However, there are plenty of other parts of SFI with similar payments and better for farming that could cater for those budgeting on sfi.

I feel really bad now for putting the whole farm in. But the reality is I have to late drill. Got caught out with the autumn’s storms. Got to middle of feb and looked at SFI at with barley prices around £135 for harvest movement. With last year getting 2.5 per acre. I suppose I’ll be the bad boy for ruining it all.

Don't feel bad it will be good news for twitchers and any endangered
birds on the east of England.
