Aberfield x Cheviot shearling, in for 2. Lambing inside is easy when you just sit on a gate watching them get on with it.
I must admit I do like doing the night shift on my own. Everything nice and quiet after a manic day of being asked questions by everyone, the phone constantly ringing or pinging.
How are they milking? Mine came in late and although in good order and lambs are a good size, they are not as milky as I would like.

Well so far, the first one to lamb has earnt a cull tag by having bugger all milk but being fat herself, and the other 4 so far are milking well with twins on. Just had one lamb, second was coming head first. Quick rearrange and she’s got 2 cracking lambs on her now. Plenty of milk. So I’m hoping the first one was just a general dick and the rest are the norm. Got 3 Cheviot mules not just milking how they should be. But they are just lean enough for my liking. The weather really has made a balls of my ewes this time. Good Haylage, Mollasses, SF carrots and just over a lb of 18% nuts a day and there are still too many of them that aren’t like house sides.

Constant wet has been hard on them. Most are OK but a percentage have slipped. I have had this acidosis/ twin lamb problem which is making me nervous of pushing the cake too hard. Had they been housed earlier the cake would have been stepped up rather than straight in and on a full ration. 🤷‍♂️

I came in about 8 last night had a look around at 10.30 back up at 2.30 to attend to some cows that had calved and to calve I was back in at 5 went back to bed till 7
I haven’t even started lambing yet. You sound like you are having a fast lambing that’s usually a good lambing here
All this getting up checking cows through the night why don't you just take the bull out of a night🤔

We had some weak lambs last year some dead think it was toxo fed some bought hay in rounds

It needs something like a gram of infected cat poo to infect about a million sheep iirc.
If that gram was in a lorry load of grain that went into a feed mill, the infection might well be coming out of a bought in bag, just as much as closer to home.
