New limits to SFI.

100% was never going to last, and was probably too good to be true.
Fair play to the early adopters, they were always promised that they wouldn't be disadvantaged compared to latecomers, who to be fair, were probably the ones last harvest saying that Defra could poke it.
Then it set in wet, and cereal prices were successfully managed downwards.
How about the ones who stuck in hls or Cs as we're promised could move over when sfi started so rolled over hls or did a Cs..

can you list what you consider to be this, that and the other which you consider to be a waste of time and how much time per year does it take you out of productive work, is it really more than a day or 2 total?
What do you do for a living?
How don’t you know what it is ?

You obviously haven't encountered 60 day testing because the
government has been shambolic in controlling bovine tb.
Every 60 days until you go clear it is a couple of days wasted.
TB test and read for 450 animals takes about 40 man hours for me, every 60 days

One person on the crush/paperwork, one getting cattle in crush/race, one or two more moving cattle around.

i agree - sfi now discriminates based on date you applied - that’s seems ridiculous

It does seem bizarre.

- Last week the government "approved" of putting more than 25% of land in wild bird seed mix
- This week, they don't.

- Last week a 100ha applicant could put 100ha in wild bird seed mix. This week he can't.
- Last week a 1000ha applicant could put 250ha into wild bird seed mix, today he still can.

- A 1000ha applicant who applied last week might have put 1000ha into wild bird seed mix. That's still fine.
- A 100ha applicant who applies to put 30ha into wild bird seed mix today is unable to do so.

1000ha applicant with 1000ha of AHL2 may be kicking themselves in 18 months time, when they could of had a shed full of milling wheat, watching prices rise.

The 1000ha applicant who could only put 250ha into Ahl2 maybe thanking there lucky stars in 18 months time when they've got a 3/4 full shed of milling wheat, watching prices rise.

TBF the new guidance does say that the six options should not take up more than 25% of any land parcel. If they had included that in the first instance they would have had a more balanced response. My reading is that isn’t obligatory but going forward it means Defra aren’t obliged to accept such applications.

On the other hand once the European elections are out of the way & EU politicians decide to open up Europe to unrestricted Ukrainian grain & the price collapses even further they may well be thinking "lucky us"

It appears it can all change at a minutes notice. I can’t agree to this I’m out
Those people who think they are safe with their big payments for not farming might still have a nasty surprise, lets wait and see, I have wrongly also got to comment about the people on here who have been telling us how good a farmer they are , with upto date systems are now pleased they were the first at the trough for non farming pay outs!!
