Cold but dry here. I’m undecided about these Aberfield x cheviots. One will be the best mother ever, then the next one couldn’t give a shite about its lambs and just wanders off. Running about half and half with it at the moment. 🤔
If it makes you feel better about them I sprayed a number on a lamb last week and it's f**king mother wouldn't go near it for a day because it smelled funny 🤣

What’s the collectives thoughts, I’ve got big lambs coming. Had 4 sets of triplets today, all the lambs the size of good twins. But I’m still running abit short of milk in the ewes. Good Haylage, SF carrots, Mollasses & 1lb of 18% nuts each end of the day. If I up the corn anymore I reckon I could hit issues with lamb size. At the moment “touch wood” they’re coming out like shelling peas.
Now they’ve only been in 5 days. Do I hope that being out of the weather on the same diet as they were outside will mean in another couple of days we see an increase in milk production as we stop feeding the weather?
Any relevant thoughts would be interesting.

No, I’m not turning them out to lamb outside
No, I’m not going to cull the lot and start again
No, I’m not buying Easycares
😉☺️😂

Keep going as you are. Unless they need dosing or something they should be right

Something with a bit of megalac in maybe? Got to be honest, mine started the same and I put it down to bringing them in too late with a change in diet and no cake before coming in. Ewes milking fine now though 1 week in.👍. Frost on snow this am. Not looking forward to checking fields this morning. 🤞

If there not milking of off that and getting a pound of nuts each end of the day then I’d be looking at changing your nut supplier.
How long have they been on nuts?
Took me years to find a good supplier of 18% ewe nuts that puts plenty of milk on the ewes but got one now and it works. Bloody costs though, some people would freak at what I’m paying but you can’t beat ewes lambing down with plenty of milk.
Important also that you know that the composition of the nut will be the same right thru the lambing season and that they won’t alter ingredients to suit themselves.

Don’t think I’d change anything until at least Tuesday..,,,, Holidays are going to stop any rash decisions😞 but I’d think if they’ve only been in 5 days they will improve , they’ll hardly be completely tuned into the diet chance yet
