Great Munden Farm require harvest staff for mainly corn cart and cultivations on our 2000 acre, all arable farm in East Hertfordshire. We run a New Holland CR9.90 combine and modern John Deere tractors. Good accommodation is provided as part of the job. Good rates of pay for the right candidate...
Drilled Skyfall in 2020 on 24th March. 50 kg of Gravity in the bottom of the drill before the seed went in. Where the bit of Geavity was drilled, not a single head, 60% of the Skyfall went to head, yielded about 4t/ha. Wouldn’t bother drilling it now if I were you.
I have a footpath running through the yard between the drier and a flat floor grainstore. It would be handy to run a conveyor along the roof of this shed to load it straight from the drier if needed. It will mean the conveyor crossing the footpath albeit 6m in the air. Is there any legislation...
Got some formerly good hardcore farm tracks which are getting veery pot holes due to this winter weather. Filling potholes is becoming a daily chore at the moment as whatever we put in just comes out again when vehicles drive over it. Have tried breaking up the area around the potholes to get...
Break crops will take a hit - personally 5% of loss making areas put into Pollen and Nectar mix (Awkward Corners, North Side of Woods etc) and 10% down to AHL2. Reduction in output won’t be down by 15% though as more unproductive areas taken out.
I never really saw the true value of my own data until I started using Omnia. The benefit of storing it all on one platform which has a massive capability such being able to overlay different data sets to manipulate variable rate drilling maps, or inputting variable costs and machinery...
It Lodged a bit, where as the Dawsum and Insitor in the same field didn’t, however PGR program last year was lighter than usual due to the dry start and stressed crops. 0.1 Moddus at T0 followed by 0.1 + 1.0 Cqt at T1
I’ll plan on going stronger than other varieties this year.
Had a 63mm water pipe thrust bored under a single track road within the vicinity of an underground electrical cable. Took them about a couple of hours and think they charged me around £1000. That was about 10 years ago.
Omnia Easyplan when launched in the Summer will be worth a serious look, especially as funding is being withdrawn for Greenlight and Gatekeeper is still not cloud based
This is only going to get worse. The schemes put in under land drainage grants of the 70s are now coming to the end of their lifespan. This winter has been great for identifying blocked drains around here, although it’s been too wet to get out and remedy them in the majority of places, but...
