    Air source heat pump

Sounds Sounds like you got a good deal. Do you know how many kw your heat pump is rated at. I guess if you are moving from oil they must have also replaced the water tank with a special heat pump version?

    Air source heat pump

I have a quote for a 7kw Vailliant arotherm plus. It’s £12600 without radiators I have to do all that myself, plus a whole load of work like digging a track for an underground pipe, running a new cable for the air source power and running the pipes up the side of the house and pouring a concrete...

    Air source heat pump

Do you know what flow temp you are using? Anything above 45 will be hurting efficiency. Underfloor heating works best as the flow temps can be as low as the 20’s

    Contractor to relocate solar panels

I paid roughly 30K plus vat for a 44kw system ground mounted on schletter galvanized kit. Precast concrete ballast. We saved some money as I laid the concrete ballast level onto hardcore base. Generates about 40000kwh per year in central scotland

    Electrical engineer

This would be easy to do but I think most people including myself would be scared of changing anything on a machine like this for fear of being liable. To do it right you are redesigning the control system something that prob took the manufacturer months to implement as a hobby project I would...

    Green Deal solar

Lucky man, that looks like a fun car, Tesla performance with German quality build i have just seen the Renault Zoe comes in a commercial version, very tempted as this could be a business expense. For price reference I purchased 44kw of ground mount solar for ~30k. We prepared the site and laid...

    Fits payments

Hi I have a 40kw system and after a wait of over a year my fits have finally been approved and my first payment issued. Just checking with others how does the payment system usual work? I so far have only had a payment from my electric Supplier of around 4p per unit. I was expecting around 4p...

Project wanted for robotics and automation engineer

Would love to spend more time on it, hence its a good opportunity for community development similar to the early 3D printer development. The first reprap printer was started by a university probably as a PhD. Lack of time and feelings of guilt if I devote anytime on the project and not my usual...

    New solar installation

didn’t have too much trouble with planning. The only thing I’m worried about is the council slapping business rates on the installation. That’s probably not ground mount specific though

    New solar installation

Installed 43kw ground mount system last year for 30k plus vat. Worked out cheaper than mounting on the roof but I did have to dig the track for cable and install the concrete ballast blocks. I agree with thinking about the orientation of the panels to match your energy usage.

Tax relief on Red Diesel being scrapped in budget?

Without a realistic alternative green power source their agrument that it will help the climate is somewhat flawed. We have to use red diesel at the moment that might change over the next ten years but right now there is zero alternative.

    Infra Red Heating

the Most energy efficient building will be super air tight and insulated with as few thermal bridges as possible. You can use mechanical ventilation with a heat exchanger, it brings cold fresh air into the building while at the same time extracting the heat from the moist stale air exiting the...

    Seaweed as a carbon sink

Not sure, maybe if it was dried and stored it would lock carbon up. Could it be used as insulation, like cellulose insulation which is old magazines and newspapers

    Spraying under Solar panels cost?

Sounds like a good application for a robotic sprayer that can identify weeds, I’m designing an open source version but it’s still early days
