Fits payments

Hi I have a 40kw system and after a wait of over a year my fits have finally been approved and my first payment issued. Just checking with others how does the payment system usual work?

I so far have only had a payment from my electric Supplier of around 4p per unit. I was expecting around 4p per unit for the fits payment and around 5.5p for exported energy payment. I was assuming this would come all together from my supplier

Ours comes in one payment, but we have 30 kw so the export is deemed to be 50% of production.
For over 30kw the export is metered. So maybe a meter read is the issue ?

Our system is just under 50kw.
Generation meter read is requested every 3 months, beginning from the date of installation. FIT rate varies according to the date of each installation.
Export is via automatic HH metering, and is paid per calander quarter. The export unit rate to March 2020 was 5.38 pence.

I'm one of the little guys with the maximum number of panels on the barn roof I was allowed when some scheme or other was started years ago. Haven't a clue what size.

I send in a reading every three monts or so and used to get a payment a short while after that.

I do my own accounts since my accountant (now ex) made a 25% error in adding up my bill. (One guess in whose favour). So I did not notice I wasn't getting any money - SINCE MAY 2018! So I haven't received a penny FOR OVER TWO YEARS. Meantime, E-on has had an interest free loan for the electricity I have generated from the tax payer.

If anyone has dealt with E-on, they will know they are the world's experts to 'pass the parcel', the 'parcel' being the customer, or in this case the supplier. The complaints line is always busy and always suggests you get back to them "in a few weeks". Emails to other departments get re-directed to more dead ends. Same for phone calls. Emails to the CEO, address kindly supplied by The Telegraph, are blocked and bounced. I finally put a rude posting in the comments section of their Facebook page and that has at least resulted in a couple of statements. I'll get paid in September, they tell me. How kind!

Apparently, E-on is amongst the worst electricity suppliers in Europe. Tell me something I don't know. Watching this thread with interest.

I assume your MCS certificate was dated before 31/03/2019 ?
if not I am certain you will not qualify except under certain specific circumstances. Mainly being a registered charity or institution.
if so then you will need to be registered with a FIT supplier, are you?
this should have been handled by your installer.
If not you will need to speak to someone with knowledge of the situation.
contrary to @Dry Rot ’s experience I hve found Eon probably the best to deal with directly. I believe it is mainly dealt with from their office at St Neots. However they will only offer the base rates.
We normally get paid export promptly on a monthly basis but FIT is another matter
we find FIT payments to vary in speed from 5-7 days with Eon to 8-10 weeks for several other companies.
so you probably have little to worry about

I have a small roof mounted 4KW system installed in Autumn 2011. EDF request a meter reading every three months and they come and do a visual check once a year. Both generation and export payment is made at the same time, normally within a week of submitting the reading.

I am old fashioned enough to believe that those in a position of trust have a duty not to betray that trust.

From The Telegraph:
History
Customer complaints to E.ON have gradually crept up since the second quarter of 2018.

The latest data on the most complained-about energy suppliers by regulator Ofgem shows the German company received the highest number of complaints of the "Big Six" suppliers in the fourth quarter of 2019, with 2,711 complaints per 100,000 customers. By comparison, British Gas received 1,228 complaints.

E.ON scores better for resolving complaints within eight weeks – the point at which the ombudsman steps in – with a 92pc resolution rate.

I have been producing electricity for Eon since 2011, my tariff is eyewatering compared to the ones above at nearly 60p per unit but my 10kw of panels cost a great deal.

They have always paid withing a week of me filling in the meter reading thing online, only by cheque though which is irksome since those cheques, together with that one for wayleave are the only cheques I get now all year.

Must be Covid19 staff issues otherwise?

Covid should be a factor. I'd guess they'll be doing all sorts of internal reorganisation to sell off the retail bit.

Long term should make SSE business a better supplier really. There's very little to differentiate them all other than customer service level, as long as you're getting comparable quotes (which most commercial customers don't do)

I am sure if you speak to Eon they will happily change to cheque payment, but at 60p I suspect you skip to the bank:)

Eon require your FIT meter to be inspected every two years, but they won't tell you that except in the small print of your contract.

They will accept a photograph of your meter in verification but they won't tell you that either.

Meantime, they will be paid for the electricity you generate as it is an interest free loan from the tax payer.

I expect the guy I spoke to this morning is now on his way to the audiology department of the local hospital!

The phone number for complaints, which I got from another source, is 0800 056 3050. There was actually a human being on the other end of the line.

EDF have been good to me. Meter reading once a year otherwise I submit a reading. They pay promptly and I have never had any problem getting through to the dedicated help desk.
I had to contact them as we were doing work and had to turn off the electricity panels temporarily so would miss one of the dates and they said that some people only submit the readings once a year and not to worry.

I have just had notification from lime jump as my current contract ends at the end of july that is just about telling me to get on to the ofgem tarrif

"If you would like to discuss options around your renewal with Limejump, please get in touch and we will be happy to assist you. One such option could be to investigate moving to the Ofgem FIT Export tariff which can pay you up to £55/MWh for the energy you export."

Not 100% sure if lime jump will offer this , I think when i have enquirer previously they said it was just big energy producers such as EON who was offering it.

do you have any contact details for relevant eon office ?

We've been with F & S for 5 years they now offer the guaranteed export rate payment instead of a market rate for export. Always been very pleased with them, very easy to deal with so we now purchase our import from them as well although they are not the cheapest. Export paid the next month, the main FiT payment is about 7 weeks after a quarter end so our June Fits quarter will be paid mid/late August. Photos of export meter uploaded by ourselves via their portal quarterly, they send someone out to look at both generation and export meter every couple of years .
