    Starlink

In those circumstances you cannae beat the laws of physics! But there must be a whole pile of folk who don't know they could find a way if they put their mind to it. I was only advising there is another much cheaper possibility in some situations. Starlink shouldn't be the default answer without...

I bought a really good 4/5g router, a mikrotik Chateau around £300. I figured out where the mobile phone masts were and who's they were. Then bought 4 directional antennas for around £160. I get 180mbs down, 50mbs up from around 8kms away for £16/month. It took a bit of learning but the amount...

    Best location for ASHP

Do you monitor the temperature in the compost heap so it doesn't get too hot? You'll bake the bugs!

Fit underfloor where ever possible. Perhaps have one unit running this and dhw. Even if it were just the living spaces.

An 11kw unit will have a 32a trip for start up (which it won't use) but will operate around the 4kw steady state. So start up will be less than 64 if they both came on but clearly a good idea to have them independent. I think the outhouse idea is good but the volume will be inconsequential...

    Stationary wind Turbines

In all my wittering I was only trying to reference the OP about the finance and operations of a wind farm. The point I have badly made is that there is no situation where the owner would like the machines not to be whirling. If they are stopped they are either grid constrained, broken down or...

    Stationary wind Turbines

I'm a bit baffled, sorry. It cost £1.2m. it was paid in 5 years. And that was at £50/mw. Plus FiT. It continues to turn and generate and look after the farm and my family and all our collective retirements and has set a base for the next generation. It has a life expectancy of 20 years but will...

double negative: it very rarely doesn't turn=no opportunity.

    Stationary wind Turbines

Apologies, Apologies. Insert 'hand up' emoji. I forgot the all important decimal point! €0.06 and €1.2. 1.2 * (2400*1000) = €28800 p.a Which leaves 6 years to payback the £1.2M. But if you have FiT = faster. Separately you cannae buy E48 Enercon's anymore, too small. So next in line is a giant...

    Stationary wind Turbines

Forget about FiT. About 30 to 40k in maintenance. At £100/mw export and 2400mw pa, that's £200k profit. Oh, and I do get FiT, but it ain't the point. They're very profitable including maintenance.

    Stationary wind Turbines

Service is charged per kWh. Therefore no generation, no cost. Therefore nonsense. Many thanks for asking. My Enercon turbine has a warranty that charges 6cents euro per kWh for years 1 to 5, then 12cents per kWh from 6 to 15. Index linked so it's now at 14 I think. Mine does 2400mwhrs per year...

no. Just the standard fieldbee setup that uses their servers. And that's the extent of my knowledge!

Crikey, fair play to you. You can use my base station if you want to add to your network. It's only a little fieldbee one mounted on me garage roof. Yep, seems the mikrotik router has quite a high parasitic usage when left on but that would require my brother to switch it off at night. Doubtful...

had a good chat with Charles. My fieldbee data usage seems very inefficient at 2-3gb per month. Anyone else notice this? Andy, you look like you're doing a hero job of free RTK, well in! How do you make it all pay?

I'm EE here so either have 1p mobile or a BT sim in the big tractor that does most of the work. I think I'll get another BT monthly sim for the middle tractor as it's just handy and reliable. For the antenna to improve reception, I went with the microtik antenna seeing as I have their router ...

Thanks Lieven. Not a Facebook man so not gonna work for me but appreciate your answer. It was trying to simplify the setup and save another monthly sim card contract but Dave has sorted me. Didn't know about the new systems. All my tractors have ECU s1 but sounds like they've altered the Rover...
