We've just cut our maize here in Northern Ireland yesterday and the weather is looking good for the next 10 days. What crop could I plant now to be harvested at the end of April next year before maize again. Westerworlds, forage rye?
We've 3rd cut ready to cut. Contractor was ringing looking to mow this morning and lift this evening. I told him no I don't think we'll bother. It would be far from ideal. Would it make 20% dry matter silage?
My Newholland TM150 has started slipping above 13th gear. Doesn't slip from 1st to 12th gear and in reverse. What could this be? Clutch packs? Damper plate?
Thanks for the replies. How does depitox compare price wise to forefront? Think forefront is around £23 per acre. Does depitox need mixing with agritox to kill Ragwort?
There's 40 acres. Yes I'd say it's more like 1 plant in 30 square meters. Will probably be cutting in 3 to 5 weeks roughly. How long would it need to die away to not be harmful?
We've leased land this year for one cut off silage to feed to dairy cows. There is a fair amount off ragwort appearing in it. Does ragwort cut at this stage of growth affect dairy cows?
I've just purchased a Matbro Tr250 as a 2nd loader to have around the yard. As you know it comes with a pin and cone headstock but all our attachments are Manitou brackets. What is the best way to get around this? Get an adapter made from pin and cone to Manitou or try engineer a new Manitou...
With the cost off electric rising has anyone considered running the farm on a diesel generator? We have 2 robots in and our electric bill is through the roof. Was considered buying a engine generator and running it during the day even and using economy 7 at night. Thoughts?
Dropped 1st cut here today. Happy enough with the crop tbh. Only got slurry and 1 bag off fertilizer. Get abit off slurry on and rain next week it should take off again.
Does anyone do their silage ground with a spring tine harrow routinely? There's bit off slurry crust still about from the dribble bar and was thinking it would break the crust up abit. Would it be any good or just a waste off time and diesel?
