It's not an overly big operation yet just one average size digester. I can't see how I could put my whole day in, surely I wouldn't be running after it all the time.
I have been offered a job running an anaerobic digester ie keeping an eye on the computer process and feeding it when have to. Not sure what to do. Has anyone any experience at this, would it be a good move. Different from working on a dairy farm.
I was wondering if a good supply of grass to lactating ewes this time of year would be the same, less or better quality as good haylage, silage or hay.
I have been giving my lactating ewes ad lib hay in racks but find they waste too much when they are always full. Would they still do OK if I fed them to capacity twice a day which would make them clean it up a bit better. The hay is too dear to waste! They are also getting just over 1kg feed per...
My ewes are due to lamb within the next 3 weeks and got one today prolapsed. Have heard it said before that to much forage can contribute to it. Just wondering if it would be better to restrict their haylage until they lamb.
He's a new ram lamb. When I first put him in there was four ewes on heat and I watched him for about 15mins and I seen him do the final thrust on the biggest ewe.
I just want to know if it is normal for some ewes after they have been tupped for semen to come back out of the ewe. I had two today with thick white semen hanging out of them. I was starting to worry that my new ram wasn't doing the job right.
I heard it skips a generation. There are lots of breeders out there who "retain their best lamb" but actually they couldn't go to a sale with it because of a wrong mouth and will sell semen from him.
yes a couple are borderline and yes after weaning in 3 weeks or so they will be of AdLib and put on better grass and give a bit of feed twice a day. I've heard other breeders say they can come back a bit.
As being a pedigree breeder I'm starting to decide which ram lambs to keep for the autumn sales. They are 3 months plus old now and checked some of their mouth's today and found some of my better one's slightly over shot. Would it be too early to rite them off. Also is it that much of a problem...
What's the best injection to give a 30kg lamb with a sore joint just above the foot. Tried ultrapen la for 2 courses and then nuflor as I thought it might be inflamed but still limping.
