Does anyone know who / how they decide where the curtilage of an old farm is ?
We have a building built in 2000 that's been rated as light industrial since then and would like to use the new Permitted Development rules to convert it to homes
The only issue is that if it's deemed to be "in the...
I've tried similar before - didn't catch anything
I think the issue is that I only have one or two. Whereas people who are catching some, have far more.
I have only seen one rat in the 10 years I've been here - I shot it
I love animals but I'll happily stab the rat in the face - I've had...
I got a rottweiler to deter burglars and she does a better job at it than your Jack Russell 😂
Unless he can fit down holes the size of a golf ball in my kitchen roof, he still wouldn't be any good
I did consider getting a couple of ferrets but I'm not sure having them live in my house is any...
I was hoping for some old farmers trick, looks like there isn't one
I'll try a fenn trap - I've just been using the traditional "big mousetrap" type
I have a variety of guns - but I never see them
I'm not doubting that cats are good for keeping mice and rats at bay.
However, cats aren't stupid either and after running for their lives on multiple occasions from my dogs, they decided they'd have a better life at a nearby farm
I got the dogs after a neighbour was attacked by four men in...
I have a rat problem, I've only seen one but I have rat sh!t in 3 buildings and the other day, I heard gnawing under my bedroom floor - lifted a board, rat sh!t there too
I don't want to use poison - the last time I did I had a stink and a plague of flies for months in my previous house and I'm...
We sold the other land with an uplift but I wonder whether its enforcible
Its circa £2m an acre if developed and the land over the road is now zoned as is land 2 fields away so it seems silly to risk so much
We're not wealthy but not hard up either
Thinking along the lines of a trust paying...
Dad sold adjoining land for £10k / ac 10+ years ago, which recently re-sold for £25k / ac because nearby land is about to be developed
It was his wish to keep the remaining land until it could be sold for development for the benefit of future generations
So that's the current plan
Good point about not letting it become a "wildlife haven"
I'll have a look into the Grants but I think it's just under
No way am I buying any animals, had a few sheep in the past and they just constantly try to commit suicide
Thanks all
Essentially I'm just looking after it until its sold for housing which will benefit my kids / grandkids
No chance of a commercial track but if its only worth £1500ish its not worth the hassle renting it
My father died and has left 12Ac of land which was supposedly "managed" by a local farmer
Now it has 10m wide hedges and a thick thatch etc
I've seen that horsey types are renting £1,200/year/Ac. Presumably with a stable, decent fencing etc
I've stuck an ad up to see what interest there is...
Thanks guys I was hoping there was some farmers trick - I have a 1.5T excavator so I'll get stuck in with a toothed bucket
Presumably I have to do the same to the roots of the area I've flailed or is there a chemical solution ?
I've bought 20 acres of very neglected land
The hedges are blackthorn and have been allowed to spread to more than 10m thick plus I have outcrops of it in the corners
I've flailed much of it but how do I stop it re growing ?
Some is too big to flail (according to the contractor) approx 40mm...
If you want really good torches then I'd suggest importing them via Banggood or Aliexpress
Convoy L2 - very long range with enough spill to be useful - around £33
Convoy L6 - ridiculously powerful not such long range but huge width - will light up a 200yr old oak tree 50m away - around £45
BLF...
It does, a friend was older and ran a jewellery shop, he obtained some CS gas and when masked robbers struck he used it to great effect and they stumbled out with nothing.
The police had to do the report in the street as everyone's eyes were still watering, they said they'd ignore it unless the...
