Cheapest so far is 230s £7750, and wrag basic xl £9500!
Anyone dealt with Afron Roberts in North Wales seems to be miles cheaper than the rest even with haulage costs to get it down here. 700 quid cheaper than next best!!
How long ago did you buy that. Cheapest I've found so far is £6750. How does it cope with gateposts and big strainers? Or have you got easy ground where you are?
Thats what I thought. See loads of protechs around, so people must be happy with them. Only rules out a p200s as used mates older one with 210kg weight and struggled with big strainers on harder ground. I know the newer 200s has 240/50kg weight, but didn't think that would make a huge...
Looking at either a wrag basic xl or protech p230s. Both with 300kg weights and rock spikes, and pretty much identical in spec. But wrag is over a grand more than protech. What's people's thoughts. Apparently wrag is better built and the wrag supporter I've spoken too says that the protechs have...
Thanks.
Good to know you don't have to pull it to the middle. I'm guessing if you're pulling it end to end then you put chain round strainer and tighten, then you can pull up the last metre or two of slack with the T gripples on the strainer before you release the clamps?
I'm guessing you...
Can anyone give any advice on 1 straining High tensile stock fencing.
We have always used mild steel up until now and pulled from one end to other with a handler or tractor. I have finally decided to give HT a go, and have been off and purchased 2 sets of boundary clamps and chain pullers from...
We've just done a 60 x 30 arena here. Got local guy with 13 tonne excavator to level the site, dig the drains and level stone and surface, but I did everything else. Hauling soil, laying drainage pipe and stone, 2 x Membranes post and rail fence around it and carried all sand in with handler...
Interested to hear why? We have always used 7 foots and never had any issues. I'm guessing from your profile pic you do a fair bit to fencing, so you obviously know what youre talking about.
Certainly wouldnt want to dig one of those buggers in the ground for a 4 foot high fence. Saying that...
They probably do it to try and catch people out so they can wriggle out of paying them. Why else would they specify a strainer that is 50mm longer than the standard size and a size you cant even purchase.
I havent got too much of a problem with the 6 foot stakes. Hopefully in our ground they...
Gonna use creosoted posts I think. The payment more than covers the extra cost.
I think its quite good really. We wouldnt have been able to afford to do it without the grant, so i thibk it gives farmers an incentive to do work they otherwise probalbly wouldnt have done.
I'm also thinking of getting a protech. Not 100% sure which one to go for. Was thinking of maybe trying to do a bit of local contracting with it if i did invest in one. Was looking at the 230s as got slighty heavier 300kg weight. Got quoted £8145 with rock spike from Halse of Honiton or £9075...
We have got 3000m of FG2 (sheep net fencing) to do under the capital grants scheme. It specifies that you need to use 1.8m long stakes and 2.15m long straining posts. We would normally use 1.65m (5ft 6in) stakes and 2.1m (7ft) long strainers. I'm thinking of going for the 6ft stakes, but very...
We have just put up a new shed for ewes to lamb in, and have used round bales around some of it for the same reason you staed
We have just put up a new shed and have housed our in lamb ewes in it. We have put round bales on their ends along the front to keep them in for now until we get around...
