    Had 9 acres of spring oat stubble full of self seeded after last year's harvest so left them over winter. Glyphosate followed by claydon drilled spring beans. Kept the ground covered and added some organic matter when drilling.

    Can't put stuff in through a bit of ply and wouldn't make much difference as the are no windows in the bottoms of the doors either. Can't replace those as you need to reach in to open the door as the buttons have dropped off.

    Still use an old Massey drill on iron wheels used to pull with a 780 but she needs a rebuild now at over 13000 hours. Use a 1290 now for the drilling and a 1210 for the ploughing. Looking at demoing a simtech in the spring our spring beans currently go in with a 6m claydon on a case steiger...

    Saw the hands free ha drill at lamma last year on the Simtech stand 30hp per m very tempted by a 2.4m but don't think my old David Brown could lift it.

    Concrete the yards and drive, build a more efficient and safer cattle shed and move on to direct drilling from traditional tillage.

    Belt driven as originally designed the mill would have been safer as if you were to get caught up the belt would run off not keep going wrapping you up in it. The flat belt becomes the weak link moving the power driven pulley well away from the working area.

    Looking for a simple bale spike for putting rounds of haylege in to cattle yard. What's good brand wise and where best to get one in Norfolk or Suffolk? Or do I just get some tines and a bracket and get one made up.

    Had that last winter borrowed a JD 6600 that wouldn't start in the cold so used our David Brown that got stuck so winched it out with the field marshall.
