What tractor do you have it on? I would suggest that it is because the hyd pump on the tractor is stroking further when you lift the drill. This is causing a lift in the pump pressure. some tractors allow you to put a remote on priority. This can help the issue.

Filling a large tank and the machine isn’t on dead flat ground, makes it hard to be accurate with how much liquid is really in the tank. digiwolf here. Works well and lives on the sprayer.
