Big Dutchman slats are very good. I believe they’re approximately £20 new (that was a couple of years ago) so are probably more. I would try get them second hand.
In Welsh it’s called ‘Eira call I nol y llall’ which roughly translates to ‘the sensible snow will come back to fetch the remaining’ works better in Welsh because it rhymes
No but I’d be very interested… we’re getting about a 15 litre bucket 2/3 full of feathers everyday (the fluffy type that rub off on the mats) it’s slowing our packer down while having feathers around the waste bucket as they drift
This is the drawing we’ve got from a maschio dealer which matches our machine. As you can see for the centre tine holder there doesn’t appear to be a nut holding it in place like the others
We have a 2008 Maschio DMR 3m power Harrow and our centre tine holder has broken (the one directly under the gearbox).
does anyone knowhow to remove this as there doesn’t seem to be any fittings underneath and on the diagram it doesn’t show any nut or retaining clip in the gearbox either.
We...
Thankyou, it was more luck than judgement but at the time feed was the lowest it had been for nearly a decade, and we felt it was a good deal, we fixed for 12 months at £225, and managed to fix for a further 6 months for £5 extra so the last 3-4 months we’ve been paying around £230. We are also...
What is the current feed spot price for a good laying hen ration delivered in 18t loads at the moment?
we fixed nearly 18 months ago and are nearing the end of our futures contract. Currently paying around the £230 level for a peak lay mash, and not looking forward it ending to say the least.
I don’t think by limiting the feeds per day you are going to save on feed. The only way you will manage that is keeping the temperature in the shed warmer (downsides of this are increased red mite burden and potentially lower air quality especially in the winter)
Depends on you stocking density but twice a day is nowhere near enough if you are on a 16k or 32k site etc. As previous poster has said, you should be minimum 5 feeds per day, possibly up to 6. Every 3 hours is what I usually do
i like to keep things simple. We use Bioclean aqua at 100ppm via SEKO TPG603 electronic dosers and once a month or so I will flush the lines in the middle of the night at 3% to really clean them out.
To make flushing them in the night automated, we have lubing auto flushers, and a £5 timer plug...
No, 90% of the time it breaks the chain in two, and doesn’t do any further damage. 10% of the time it will break, and then wraps itself around the sprocket until the shear pin finally gives in, by with point it’s a grinding job to open it up and then unwrap the chain and then weld it back up...
I have a big Dutchman system from 2007 and occasionally the chain will snap. I haven’t seen a shear pin break for about 5 or 6 years it’s always the knuckle that breaks off, sometimes it can get in a right state if it wraps around the drive.
Is this early signs that my chain is coming to the end...
The decrease in spent hens for sale is mainly due to packers stating in contracts that producers are not to sell spent hens to the public, in an effort to reduce the number of backyard flocks which will in turn help keep more control on things like bird flu etc
Check your wiring going to the print heads, and also the condition of the print heads. Sometimes a little corrosion can start from power washing and that causes problems.
these printers aren’t cheap, the Hitachi printer I believe is around £7000. Is it all your print heads which aren’t doing a...
Our acid in 1000L which does a whole flock of 32k for a cycle is around £3000 mark, and the chlorine on top which would probably be another £500. I estimate bioclean Aqua would be around £800 for the flock. Definitely worth considering for a couple thousand pound ?
I’m not an expert on them but as far as I’m aware there is 2 tanks which hold resin beads in which attract iron and manganese particles. When they hold all the can they get flushed out using salty water.
Our system recognises when it’s full and flushed automatically. But because our water is...
