Have a 716 with 9700 hours on it on original box with no problems yet touch wood! A local contractor near here has just replaced the first vario box on his 926 with around 14000 hours on it. Another contractor beside me had a box go on his 7490 at 4000hours, took the unit out himself to see what was wrong, turned out it was a seal away, managed to get a seal for it and put it back together, it went ok for a few hundred hours then it stopped again, iirc the second time it stopped a bearing had collapsed and had done a bit of damage so he rang round and managed to get a second hand vario which has took the tractor up to 9000 hours with no problems with it yet. The tractor was chipped fairly early on in its life and still is so maybe that had something to do with it, it also had been used on a plough in range 2 before the vario gave bother. Servicing and proper driving seem to be key to getting decent hours out of them and a bit of luck maybe!
