Access to work grant

As WalterP mentioned in his recent post does anyone know about these grants.

The old man would love a utv type thing to get around in and would keep him entertained going round the sheep as well as fit and healthy for a few more years. The farm can't afford one but wondered how much help the grant would be if it was available.

The old boy needs to go with his boots on!

Any experiences?

As far as I am aware A2W will not provide anything that is considered part and parcel of a job, so, farm equipment would not be covered under this scheme, unless it was say someone who could not sit astride a quad, so needed a side by side seat of a UTV, but then, one would assume DWP would counter argue that that person should be moved to a more suitable position within the company. You wouldnt employ a shepherd who couldnt walk, so A2W is also useless for dissability rights in that instance too.

38 years ago today we married and moved into your Dads cottage and milk his cows.
Probably the worst mistake I ever made was leaving there.
Tried to get the missus to come see him today, but, she reckoned it was too cold!

He' ll need to get a docter letter stating what illness he has, Heart/ lungs etc best, , three quotes for whatever Machine/s needed to get work done.
The form is very straight forward to fill in , they'll very often fill it in over the phone and then send it to you for sighning. They'll then ring you'r Dad to question him a Bit , as to how Machine will help him etc.

IFrom what I hear DWP would not be involved , its to help someone access to their work even if its a 75 year old

who runs Job centres these day then, if no longer DWP? As this is where you are advised to try to claim A2WG.
Perhaps wales are more favourable in helping access these grants than their counterparts here, similar situation to free prescriptions etc?

Gossiping with Daltons' staff (what I do best...) I understand that a surprisingly large part of their impressively big sales of Polaris are attributable tio the RTW grants that are readily available.

Procedure is a letter from one's GP about your health, then a new Polaris turns up on your yard at a hugely discounted price.

Dunno why the scheme don't apply to JD Gators....

Because the JD dealer has not latched onto it.

Kawasaki dealer here has sold mules onn the back of it ,,40% discount frpm what I hear.

Tell him not to forget that he needs the hard door kit and the power steering, too...

Then give Daltons a ring?

So I couldn't get a shiny new Gator at a fat discount to potter round the place on just because I fancy one?! Shame...

That depends on whether your doctor will certify your limp.:)

Personally, I haven't claimed on it, despite my knee giving me gip when I've been mauling sheep all day. I understand there has been quite a take up though, so maybe I've missed a trick......again.:(
