Has anyone out there had any previous experience of feeding alka grain?

Yes, to sheep. There was another thread a few days ago about Maxammon, which is essentially the same stuff.

@ploughman1963 fed some to cattle last year IIRC.

Yes. Included in the tmr for our dairy herd. V successful, v ritually no waste, just done 140T over weekend, another 100T to do when combine rolls again

I'm told that Wynnstays are now selling Maxammon treated grain, delivered to farm. Not sure on price, but would even save the aggro of mixing it yourself.

I wonder if they are buying 18-20% grain to do it now?

Alternatively, they could be buying dry stuff and adding water, great way to add margin.....

A good outlet for the stuff they charge big moisture deductions on too, without actually having to dry it.
