Anyone top dressing yet?

Yes but you didn't have over an inch of rain straight after application though did you? Grass here still seems to be growing, all be it very slowly, so would expect the crops to take it up. I think the danger being that crops aren't deep rooted currently and the amount of rain could wash the N deeper down into the soil profile and out of reach. I suspect the majority will have washed off, never seen the fields look so bad here, worse than in the middle of winter.

Been having a natter with a friend today who has spread no fert at all ,,,,,, it's very strange because he wishes he was in my situation , every thing has had something because as he said it's going to be quite sometime before he can travel and if it comes warm over the weekend it will soon need feeding . If I had a regret

The risk with heavy rain soon after application is run off & it being leached out before it has time to break down into mineral N in the soil that should theoretically hold on better. Is that the case @Jetemp @Jason ? Thought I'd better check with someone who has done FACTS more recently than me.

@Brisel i reckon your right, although I can say I'm pretty glad we took the oppurtunity to get fert on 75% of our cropped area. We were Travelling really well last week, and we're always of the opinion that if the oppurtunity arises we should use it!!

having driven up country today on return from hols am glad we put some on end feb, as looks to be taking it up and the yellowing/browning of crops not to mention the ruts here and there plus the amont of rain we must have had lately makes me think that for once I was right, as no way would we travel here until well in to next week even if it keeps dry, and then it would be another week before it took any applied up,

Just been for a wander around today and the crops are growing , time will tell what N's left in the ground , I think compared to most we have survived the winter well , nearly every field of wheat had an application of sludge or FYM , and once it loses the purple tipping will look well , one thing that is noticeable is that the land which was drilled in the 2nd session didn't get rolled (we felt our red marl was still way to tender underneath ) walk so much better , anything which is rolled has just run together and looks life less

Yes, same here. With hindsight, some of the land after linseed here has been rolled down too tight. Where we got rained off rolling after OSR, the crop looks the same, but like you say walks better on the open ground.

Went on the brash yesterday, amazed how it had dried up, finished up this morning, travelled surprisingly well considering the recent rain, now some warmth/sun would be welcome
