Bactoscan

I've already spoken to my tank engineer, that pump was disconnected and the programme was reworked years ago 10+years so it only works off one pump

I'm thinking, since I get collected in the morning and therefore wahed by midday would it be worth chucking a jug of paracetic acid in the tank and setting it to do a rinse when I go and get the cows in? Just in case anything grows between 12 and say 5pm when I start milking?
Just a suggestion. I use TC86 in the bulk tank which I think is the dogs danglies of chemical. If you’re ever struggling this is the one to go to.
I’ve also been caught out with crappy dosage pumps so I have a litre jug beside my tank and a wash uses 600ml. After the tanker had been every time you can see instantly the right amount of chemicals been dispensed.
Just top the jug up again.

Bactos can moved up and found milk pump seal fecked and that’s not helped by tanker driver not rinsing tank before putting it to wash

Do tanker drivers still rinse tanks? I haven't seen one rinse ours since replacing the old square ice bank tank.

How does not rinsing the tank have anything to do with milk pump seals?

Old muller tank here and basically if you don’t rinse the tank before putting the wash on ,because of high butterfats ,the fat congeales in the tank out let and doesn’t get washed out properly ,so every wash cycle throws fat all round the tank
Rinsing tank has nothing to do with milk pump seals
Seems too be 2 drivers on my round who don’t rinse the tank ,the rest do

Our Muller tank is around 1997, thats rinses itself first. One before that did too. Thought it was only the seriously old things that didn’t.

Not sure how that's the tanker drivers duty
when we fell out with arla, over collections and bacto. We were getting up to 3 lorries a night, topping up their loads. Our tank has auto wash, so just a matter of pushing the buttons.

in the summer, with the multi collections, milk left on tank sides didn't help, and the last pick up, very seldom pushed the wash button, all night time collections, so turn up 6.00 for milking, tank not washed.

arla's reply, collection is done by a different business, to ours, and its drivers discretion as to whether they press the wash button, or not.

having complained, they sent somebody out to see us, apparently the odd high bacto, was our fault, so the lady came out to show us how to prepare the cows tits properly, pre milking :mad:
that went down well, and a few complete lies, we handed in our notice.

pity really, because arla is the best way to go, just couldn't agree a solution to collections, some of the lorries were just taking 2/300 litres, very often, that was the last pick-up.

Muller tank has cold rinse ,hot rinse ,hot chemical wash ,cold rinse ,cold rinse
Now for some reason the first cold rinse congeales the fat into lumps and then the rest of the washes just seem to blow the fat all round the tank especially in the outlet
So to stop this we leave a volume washer hose on the tank and they just blast it ,put cap on ,push wash button and done
That hose rinse is part of our wash cycle and gets done by 9 drivers out of 10

Lucky if some of the drivers manage to press the wash button here.

That is an issue with our spare tank
They put the wash dial going but leave the switch on cool instead of wash
Yeah neither of mine wash unless the cooling is turned off. I check the tank has washed first job after breakfast. Was more of a problem when on night collection.

Our tank wash consists of ,me with a hose and a brush, Arla drivers are pretty good and rinse the tank after collection. According to the driver trainer if the tank needs rinsing after collection then that's part of the driver's job.
