Check for foot prints. I've a few like that on what passes for a front lawn.

There are no badgers here, just rabbits.

If you're pumping slurry let a bit "run" down the hole and see what runs out!

The four signs of an active sett are:

• Footprints on wet ground (highly distinctive)
• Hairs on wire where they squeeze under.
• Bedding pulled out of holes (in Spring/Summer)
• Holes scraped 30yds from sett where they go to do toilet.

Could be an old, inactive badger sett which is now used by some other of God's creatures.
