Had the 5 minute phone call today , to be asking questions relative to beet at the moment says they've got themselves in a pickle. Price , price, price was my words and the interviewer agreed . If you have money you re invest simple. Beet needs to leave £750/ ha to compete after all costs to keep a place in our rotation Or equate £32 /t @ 87t/ha 5yr av was my 2 penth.

And who would bet on a 5yr average over 80t/ha with the will they/won’t they neonic situation?

That was murmured but high yields are achievable but at high cost and risk . , the risk is how much area to grow each yr , our last lift beginning of feb achieved 116t/ha adjusted 9th October achieved 65t/ha different land different weather in a small distance
And who would bet on a 5yr average over 80t/ha with the will they/won’t they neonic situation?

This must be pricing with the new diesel, ag chem and fert prices? Because you'd gross way more than that with 87t/ha and £32/t in the last few years ?

This is where the risk to reward comes in 80t/ha @ 23.90 after levies , a bit more for haulage than allowance allows for maximum mileage , not getting a first wheat entry , damaged to land , roads , pads . Heaping , 3 trailers etc etc there nothing exciting about beet . Now @ £ 1000/ ha profit there begins some sense in growing it . 3 ton of s barley against 4 ton of wheat to me is now £500/ha loss for the same fixed costs . British sugar were firmly told today we all have fixed costs and need to be considered in made up gross margins on flash literature. My own fixed costs I know and there 3 figures /ha.my staff alone cost £125/ha on 300 ha
