Best way to drill armco crash barriers

Workshop persuaded me to part money for annular drills - 12mm upward. Just drills the hole you need but not the core. We don't do it often, but the standard stuff breaks.
We can't do gas in our workshops.

Put up a pen 2 years ago with 21 ft w barriers, and short sections as the posts. Bored the 16 mm holes with a s/h mag drill i bought for the job, childs play BUT i had to G clamp a piece of 6 x 3/4 steel as a base for the drill. Did most of them at home, a genny did a good few on site. Dont have a gas axe , no power within 1/2 a mile of site. When you got into swing of setting it up, you would drill a lot of holes in an hour , and you can be proud of it, when the neighbours look at it, unlike if you got John Welder at it......

I've just drilled some with a mag drill and rotabroach (?) bit, the 8 holes at each joint were no problem despite the curve

Found them quite easy to drill with mag drill in past.

Mag drill with core drill bit if you want a good quality hole, makes it safer especially if your drilling large holes.

Turn welder right up soon goes threw

Clamp mag drill to a digger or handler bucket and use the mag drill like a mobile pillar drill

I've gone through 25mm of steel with this in a cordless drill, even managed at 50mm diameter!!!

Not sure about burning the galv, made me ill once. I would go step drill or good quality 16mm holesaw for future reference.
