BT call centres in UK?

The reason is that callers are gradually realising that if they choose the Welsh option, they get someone who is a fluent English speaker as well as a Welsh one. If they choose the English option, they get Anglo Indian.
The only reason this company has a Welsh section is because they have a statutory duty to provide one.
Always used to phone the BCMS Welsh helpline for the same reason, though now things run a lot smoother hardly ever have to call.

Thankfully or not as time will tell Ive changed to EE so wont have to talk to BT in another couple of weeks ,better deal on broadband, phone and my present mobile package

I'm sorry Lincs Lass, but you will find that EE use Indian call centres; I find it a total pain.

Seeing the previous post about BT being legally obliged to have a Welsh call centre, I looked on the EE website to see if I could choose that option.

The search box could not find reference to "welsh language", so perhaps the telecoms companies are not legally obliged to provide a welsh service.

Okay, some tips on improving your broadband, I upped my dire 1.5mbps to over 5mbps by using these simple methods.

1. Your house telephone cabling, if old, is likely to be the main offender. In the past extra sockets and suchlike were wired in what was known as a 'star', that is a spaghetti like mass of wires that emanate from a central point. That's great for regular phones as they don't care, but your router does.

Solution: Rip out all that old wiring from the point where your line enters your property and ditch it. You don't need it. You simply need a single base station wired directly in from the source and as many cordless satellite phone units as you like. You want this direct line to go straight into your….

2. Master socket. Chances are if its an old gaff you'll have some master socket dating from the 1970's or 1980's. To fix the problem you'll have a silly little dongle hanging out of it to 'filter' the signal to your router.

Bag-o-shite.

Solution: You need to call BT and request an engineer visit and state that you do not have an up to date master socket and you would like one fitted please. You may have to pay them for this visit if they arrive and find you DO have an up-to-date socket, but chances are you won't and if you butter up the engineer with bacon sarnies and a nice mug of tea he or she is likely to waive the charge. Brucey Bonus.

Now - for that free tip which will likely boost your broadband signal immeasurably I will happily trade a days pigeon shooting over your muddy fields of rape… please excuse the blatant plug (but then I am enjoying 5.11mbps whilst my neighbours only get 0.96mbps so I feel a bit cocky).

Well, Open reach has just put a new socket in my house yesterday, and connected the new 200metre`s of cable up the road today and my BB is now a sparkling-------------50% slower than before the problem was fixed.:(... taken 61/2 weeks to fix line.

Our last visit by Openreach brought the news that the previous engineer had failed to check the cables coming into the house and were about to fall off, our speed went up to 2Mb and we remarked how slow broadband was in Shropshire compared to relatives living in London (+20Mb), the chap lives 12 miles from us and he gets 78Mb on fibre, which we will not be getting. A small victory but a week later the speed was below 1Mb again.:(:(

We have BT bussiness broadband, never had any conversation outside the UK, 24hr help, if an engineer turns up they carry router's if it's faulty, wouldn't waste time with any other provider.

I suffered months and months and months of BT call centre bollox while our broadband got worse and worse with periods of not working at all. Best we ever had was 0.7 mbps. Sick to death of them and ordered wireless broadband with a local company once I'd snapped. I sent a non hopeful e-mail to warren buckley in the complaints dept and received a phone call within half an hour! They were uber apologetic and helpful and got on the case straight away. Even when I told them they were too flipping late they said they'd sort it anyway in case I ever wanted to come back.

Wireless is great, on 5 mbps and totally happy. No connection issues at all. Don't deal with BT at all now, cancelled all contracts with them. However, there ARE people within the company who will get results, it's just a shame you've got to be some sort of detective to root them out.
