Bulbs for livestock buildings

I need to replace a couple of light bulbs in a shed before lambing, and having seen a video on Facebook of a bulb exploding onto a cattle shed floor and catching fire, I was wondering if there are any safer bulbs?

I have put 'daylight white' 20w LED's in place of all my filament bulbs. They are the equivalent of 100w normal bulbs but use 1/5 of the leccy, last a lot longer and produce a bright white light. Much more pleasant to work in and cool, so no fear of starting a fire if they did explode (which I can't see how they could).

The only bulbs I've heard of exploding/setting fire are the cheap imported 'corn bulb' LEDs, like you can find cheaply on eBay. Something to do with substandard components used in the build IIRC.

LED lights are ths way forward. Instant light on the switch, last much much longer and cost less to run. slowly changing everything over here

Where did you get them from? Hard to tell what are good quality and what are not on the internet.

I have this conversation with a guy from Dextra LED. He was saying how high quality his bulbs were as compared to others but doubted farmers would pay for the extra quality and safety. I couldn’t convince him to list them on Farm Marketplace.

We did get this supplier though and all feedback has been good so far from luxum: https://www.marketplace.farm/?subca...ecurity_hash=3dfab0cd57a1895421fba055d2235c17

Are they enough light though at 15w?

ime the floodlights last well with big hours ...

claims for long life on modern 'bulb ' life i find rubbish ..

.the only thing to do is make sure and properly register them when purchased for the warranty claim you might have

I'm replacing all my bulbs with 5ft, 50 watt sealed LED florescent type lights, great light off them and I can wire them straight into the ceiling rose where the bulb holder flex was connected. great light and long life and impact resistant. Bought 50 of them and did a deal for |£22 each.
