wiring up a calving camera at the minute and just wondering about signal strength

using 2 engenius 202s to transmit 200m, have clear line of sight between the two. These are the transmitters
http://www.irishwireless.net/ens202ext

with the engenius at the shed outside and the engenius at the kitchen INSIDE double glazed window and getting the following, noise @ 95dB, and signal at 70dB

with engenius ouside the kitchen window getting noise @95dB and signal at 55dB

anyone able to comment what my readings should be ?

maybe they just settled. :scratchhead:

Wireless is incredibly fiddly and fussy, I would much rather have everything wired personally although it's not always possible!

I would run some more tests and see what your results are and just go with the best positioning/signal strength.

You may have been better off choosing an access point which had directional aerials rather than omni directional as you have clear line of site.

Silly question but are they working? I have one of the engenius sets in my yard (slightly different model) only going about 90m but just have the one in the house balanced in the window and all my cameras connect fine to the one connected to the router

The one that's balanced in the window I can also surf the net from in a couple of fields at 350m line of sight :)

yes functioning to a point..............when inside the window signal tends to break every now and then, however much improved when outside

What's the ping times like?
4ms for the ping
