Short on numbers today really, nice few there but could of been alot more attendances. Brilliant event, good speakers, debate and a big dinner! Had some demos of tackle an some tackle to look at in the afternoon.
General feel of event is to be on top of your costings abs be aware of hidden costs. These costs are to be passed on to the customer on your rates as you are offering a service in demand.
Growth in population meaning that on the next few years we need more food and be more efficient in farming.
Talk on sfp an cap, tax an finance.
Hsbc bank manager reckons that only 10% of farmers/contractors actually know there costs.

That might explain why they're members for £300 but gain nothing? Genuinely interested what you get out of it, considered joining until saw the costs and thought will I manage savings equivalent to that over the year? First thought is no but willing to be proved wrong

im not a member but it was £35 per ticket today, which was fair enough for the rental of the event and the grub!
I think some of the dealers there where abit disappointed of the lack of punters but we talked to most to make up for it!

I'm amazed that it's as high as 10%, he should try reading posts on this forum, especially when it comes to hedgecutters.
Exactly.
Someone asked if farmers are up to date with costs, he said everybody in this room and 10% of farmers know there costs.
problem is, everybody there was interested and up to date with costs and all the contractors working for nowt who are to thick to realise what it costs them to go contracting are to busy to go!
There was a german speaker there aswell, which was very interesting.

Went to the event today. I thought it was an excellent event, great speakers and a real chance to have time with a few main line manufacturers. I have joined the group,i think it is important to be represented by a group and what is better than a specific association?

I think the organisers made a great effort to organise top class speakers and well run event all round. For me, yes, more numbers would be good but it has to start somewhere. Seemed a 'quiet' crowd from a questions point of view but Cedric porter did a good job to hold the discussion.

Well done from me for having a go and i hope it happens again.

The NAAC do a lot of work for the industry and fight for contractors when no one else does. my dad is a contractor and will openly say he wouldn't be in business without them. he is a member because he want to support the association that supports his industry. to him that's worth £300.

Hmm......

I was too busy to go but, call me big headed, I like to think I know what I'm doing. I was too busy actually making a modest profit rather than being a thick "Chase my tail" operation.

There are some good outfits that know what they are doing
