so....new ley not great due to dry april....full of sow thistle....spraying delayed by weather

was thinking that i could graze it off rather than spraying then appraise what to do....but put 50kg/ha of potash on on monday....will that cause/ exacerbate mag problems?

As above ^^ but it depends what you intend to graze it with IMHO. Anything that doesn't have a big magnesium drain (e.g. dry hoggs or ewes getting close to weaning) would be less at risk.
What growth stage is the grass? Lush, leafy stuff will be more risky than grass that's starting to run up to seed.
You could always silage it to be on the safe side - juicy sow thistles are high in protein (all the old horsemen round here used to pick 'em for their grey horses 'cos they reckoned they made their dapples stand out:rolleyes:)
