Day trip to Wales

Took a day off today and headed for Portmerion, sadly there was this strange wet stuff coming out of the sky, so we said sod spending 25 quid for a wet wander around, and opted for some other free entertainments. Tootle around Port Mad Dog ( as Janice described it!) and then on down the Lleyn peninsular. In all a nice day out...

Naff all on the fields, except the understocked land over the top towards Bala from Trawsfynydd. After a run into Derbyshire last week, it looks like a lean old Winter for the hill men, if we don't ALL see some rain and subsequent grass growth. I doubt we will be seeing much success with stubble turnips and the like for finishing the hill lambs, which is a worry for the producers as we get nearer the store sales time....?

On the way back it was intereresting to see a lot of loads of bleached white gold, aka straw, heading westwards. Surprisingly, no Securicor delivery or Police escorts for this valuable merchandise :sneaky:

Popped into Coed y Dinas at Welshpool. Not been over there for a bit and was surprised to see the new Roundhouse and the big new buildings going up... We both were wondering what is going into the Roundhouse? Loads of wrapped fodder going into store there...

You had me scratching my head a bit there for a minute until I remembered it to be what I know as 'Cheap Charlie's', which isn't cheap any longer. He's got a big new store at Aberystwyth and an even bigger one at Carmarthen now also.
Is the wrapped fodder actually going into Charlie's roundhouse or is it the way your tell 'em?

The Fodder being stacked on hard standing between the Roundhouse and the "old" main road out of Welshpool... :) We were wondering if it was coos or finishing stock going in there...

Yep Charlie's. Not "Cheap Charlie's" but cheaper than Wynnstay ;) When I am in there, I usually stock up with cheapish small stuff, R clips, lynch pins and the like.

It is interesting to see how both big and small Ag supply companies have come and gone over the years... Countrywide anyone?
