Have given them some hay to get started, but was going to see how they got on after that. It is something I'm concerned about. I guess I will know by if they have very runny dung?
Runny dung will tell you, but it might be a safe bet to have a round bale of straw in a ring feeder to give them some roughage, they'll pick at it if they need it.

Update on this. Cows are eating well, they have straw but don't eat much of it.

This morning 209 sheep arrived to help me get through it quicker. The stubble turnips are great, some are 10" tall, and about 6" diameter. The cows don't eat them, but I'm sure the sheep will.

In hindsight though I have ballsed it up a bit. I'm 100% happy with how the crop has done, but it really should have been all grazed off by now, instead I have another month to go, and a lot will set seed, especially the vetch.
