Drought

Speaking to an ageing local grower who has seen famine, feast, fire & floods. He said that "the weather always pays its debts".
I believe it does, in the UK anyway.
Last year was a drought for us (not in the Aussie version of drought) and crops and yields suffered a lot. Yes I know this was the opposite for many.
I feel the extra wet we have had over winter has been the payback and it was what I expected.
Conversely we have had 2 very good years weatherwise that have been very nearly perfect. I think this cold spring is payback too. It was snowing yesterday FFS!

I last visited Qld about 4 years ago, it hasn't rained since. I went to Adelaide a couple of years ago, they were reporting a record number of consequtive days above 40C, the day I arrived was the day they announced it was the wettest February day on record and that was at 8am!
Last year I arrived to houses floated down the streets in Newcastle.

If You want rain just pay for my flight, it seems I bring it with me.

We tend not to get that here. Floods for us just means localized rainfall that can't get away down the drainage system quick enough. Last one here was about 3 years ago when we had 8 inches over 3 days. Half the farm was under water for a week. No real damage just a nuisance really. That and the fact the gods seem to dictate you only get so much a year and if you get most of it in one go two months to early, to bad...

I was showing two young Australians around the farm yesterday, they said their farm hadn't seen a full harvest for 4 years

It made our climate seem frustrating at worst ??

We even managed to lay on their first sighting of snow, so that's one advantage of seasonal weather

( they really could not believe our yields too !! )

It's already started here, two days without rain and they've started irritating the carrots on @slim shiny old haunt.
