The company changing out the metering systems on the drills for Welker and Millennial have pulled off a great marketing deal there. The youtubers, thanks to the YouTube analytics, know exactly what sort of person is watching their videos and can approach the suppliers to say I can put your product in front of 300,000 viewers, this percentage of whom are exactly who you are trying to sell to. For the cost of healthy discount on the product to the youtuber it's a far more productive way of marketing than an advert in say farmers weekly, where you don't necessarily know in as much detail how well the advert was received. Sometimes it's a little cringey when you know it's clearly an advert but I think most of the time you can see through it. There is an interesting point on all of this though about product placement on TV vs social media, as explained here. . Bit of a long watch but interesting.
