Filling bowser from dyke??

I m guessing filling the Sprayer from a dyke/ stream is a no no, but what are the rules on filling a bowser? Contractor used to come next door and he had a fire hydrant tap, soon got bowser topped up!!

Bowser is ok I believe , draw 20 cu m a day with no licence from a river anyway,certainly not direct to sprayer or a bowser with a mixer ....

I wouldn’t if you can help it.. done it a couple of times in the past and got loads of trouble with nozzles blocking.

Filtered I and out of bowser works very well here.never use mains at all,soft ish too but depends on your area for that one I guess.only thing environment agency like to know so if they are roundup ing weeds in dykes or river theycan notify you so you don't get any contamination.

Hydrants aren't metered, so yes, it is illegal for the public to draw from them. They are there for the fire service to use, not anyone who fancies free high volume water.

Water companies will hire them out if you need one (for attachment to washout hydrants not fire hydrants). I have seen landscape gardeners, builders and street cleaners use them. No idea of cost.
