Can you class barley and peas as a protein crop? Greening biggest load of rubbish in a livestock area when you need feed for livestock.
 
Can you class barley and peas as a protein crop? Greening biggest load of rubbish in a livestock area when you need feed for livestock.

'Greening crops' are:

rye, vetch, phacelia, barley mustard, oats, alfalfa

You need to mix two or more of the above to qualify.

'Nitrogen fixing crops' and Greening are scored separately.

I wouldn't mind a few words with some of the people who came up the these ideas. I grew peas last year as part of my greening and as far as I could work out you couldn't plant them in a mix with barley and then claim it as a protein crop.
