H&L automatic calf feeder.

Hi, just wondering what people have their feeders set at for best results? Ours currently 120g and feel the calves could be doing better. Holstein btw.

How many litres?

6 litres @ 150g would be the least I would feed.

Set ours at 175g per lt and 3.4lts per half day. H&L calf machines add the concentrate to the lts. So it works out at 1200grams in 6.8lts of water = 8lts of milk at 150 grams per lt. Getting great results and far less problems.

Set to 6 litre and 150g / litre. Avg adg about 0.7 whilst on milk.

Are you sure the machines are set like that? Guys who fitted mine said if you set it at 150grams per litre then that is what is fed

Yeah pretty sure. I measured 4 extra rations out and was just under 3lts when when each ration was supposed to be 0.6lts

Unless mines inaccurate with its water volumes. Which are calibrated but could still be out a little?
