I suppose it's agricultural , there's bulls anyway .

I'm amazed no one was killed, perhaps that's what's needed, I have no sympathy with them whatsoever, they deserve everything they get.
Must have been a good few needing hospital treatment after that, how is that funded in Spain?

Just for the record, it is on Terceira in the Açores.

"Bullfighting" in its various forms is the one thing I dislike about Portugal. The bulls are not killed in the ring as they are in Spain (I think there may be one place that does) but they are seriously mistreated.

So is this the actual event or is it a public warm up?

I assumed it was something like a small local version of a bull run where a bull is moved through town to the ring for the evening's fight.

I have do admit that I am not a fan, but it beats bull fighting.

But credit where its due, its a fair fight if you can call it that?. There's no men in fancy tights with a sword against a defenceless animal.

Its a pretty fair, man against beast encounter, with a chance of both sides getting hurt. The bull has a clear advantage in terms of speed, weight, and horns.

It happens many times every summer. There are also "bullfights" in rings on Terceira. I am sure you can Google more info. The Tourist Board are bound to have something, or tour operators.

When we had a presence in Egypt , ( Pre Suez an' all that ), the RAVC lads who came back to Melton Mowbray from the Camel Corps reckoned that camels were as dangerous as bulls (or cows for that matter ) They said they were inherently evil , if the couldn't bite you, or kick you , they would lie down on you . But at least they didn't have those dangerous horns ! They weren't bred to be dangerous either , apparently they just liked doing it.

Felt sick watching it.
Me too. I've owned and before that , worked with Jersey bulls for the last 38 years. In that time I've had some narrow squeaks and I can't watch people doing that for the fun of it. Bro in law was done over by a Holstein last Autumn, and other bro in law had it off a newly calved cow several years ago. Both are lucky to be alive and these fecktards do stuff like that for a laugh???
