IN CALF HEIFER - ODD URINE FLOW

So my other heifer is due to calve in 9 days and is big.

Just observed her urinating oddly. She's peeing, then stopping, then peeing, then stopping. She seems to spurt pee, then stop, then spurt again.

Is this because she's heavy in calf??

You've permanently got a full tank when you're 9 days from calving I remember it well

How are you going to deal with two Children/Calves

The first one has kept you up for about four days now monitoring it!

I have no useful input but appreciate your concern. Good luck, and if its as gooder calve as the last one then we will need some pictures!

Yeah i thought the urine flow would be fast and furious - not spurting on and off.

The calf is probably putting pressure on the bladder /urethra. I wouldn't worry too much.
Or she's got an infection.

Anyone know how u would detect infection - taking temp?

Definitely worth taking it.

I know for people they use a tester strip in the urine, not sure if they have the same for cows! But I think probably more likely to be the calf putting pressure. But I could be totally wrong on both counts!!!!

I couldn't tell you how any cows pee.

I don't pay attention to that kind of thing, as long as they appear happy.
