I haven't put a price on because I really don't know. There's 160 in the group and I'm only selling some because the milk price next year doesn't look all that special, and much like you, I have first child due in the spring as well so I've decided not to push cow to hard just yet.

Do I sell the strongest ones and hope for £950/£1000 or the smallest 10 and hope for £400 along with some average ones?

Now we know your name from the FW article, i see from the Moffat livestock page you might be looking for some. There were 6 not in calf, I could chuck a bull back in now if you fancied some Oct calvers

I know that feeling I really hate putting a price on things! I would be interested. Not after too many as cull price too poor but enough for the god children to get close to etc and keep the fats and protein up.

Well there would be no harm in trying to get them back in calf

When do you want to shift them?? I got tb testing first fortnight in January and am slightly down on heifers but if I don't lose anything will stuck with what I have.

We're tb testing in the 3rd week of Jan so I'd really like to move them before then, we're clear at the moment but there's plenty of tb in the area and with 750+ head spread over a couple of farms the chances of remaining clear aren't that great.

I've actually got someone coming to see them this morning so with a bit of luck we can strike a deal.

That's fine , bloody tb screws my plans most of the time(y) Are You One Holding Number? This is what has buggered us up three farms and one holding number.

We have multiple holding numbers and each year I have to speak to AHVLA to get a licence to move animals between farms without pre movement testing. It always worries me that someday soon they will turn around and say no!

The heifers are sold (subject to pre-movement testing).

Well done on sale!
We had 15 holding numbers until we had tb for the first time and they removed the lot and gave us 1 back, which until last year wasn't a problem.
