Keeping squirrels outta cornfield

is there anything I could treat field corn seed with before planting to maybe stop squirrels from digging it up?? Mainly in small fields near woods

Treat the squirrels! With a rifle, traps, poison.

Never heard of squirrels causing damage to corn!

Squirrels are perhaps the most fun vermin to control. 22 and a few shotguns in the woods once a year can wipe out huge numbers

We certainly used to get a lot of squirrel damage but only eating heads of ripe corn near the woods.
Found they had a very strong attraction to the rat bait we used to control problems near feeders so that was our proffered option

Squirrels are taking the tops off wheat and barley at the edge of fields round here.
The OP doesn't sound UK based talking about field corn (presume maize) seed being dug up by squirrels.
